A less known trail that leads to Rambaug point of Matheran from near Morbe Dam. An ancient trade route used by the locals for reserving any precious goods at the top of the hill in olden days. Similarly is the ONeTree hill that is not too old but also created by the locals around when Matheran started up a hill station.

Ghangad is located in Lonavala region, on the western side of the Mulshi river which is in Pune District. This region is also called the Korbarase Maval. The fort is surrounded by other forts like Korigad, Telbaila and Sudhagad. It is quite lonely and separate from the others.


There are two huge rocks caves at the entrance of the fort. The fort has been renovated and still work is going on.


The known information and history about this fort is very less. There are not much of documentation regarding this fort. Ekole village which is at the base of the fort. The height of this fort is 2600 feet above MSL.


The history says this fort was used as prison by Peshwa. It was originally occupied by Koli Samant and then was later annexed by Adil Shah and then later on with the Marathas.

Dhodap Fort is the 2nd Highest Fort in Maharashtra after Salher Fort. The third highest hill peak in Maharashtra and the 29th highest peak in the Western Ghats.


Dressed stone and brickwork combination was used to built Dhodap Fort. Both sides of the forts have strong bastion. Dhodap has a pointed cliff called Shembi cliff. Things to see beautiful entrance door, Ikhara cliff on the eastern side of Dhodap is ideal for rock climbers.


Unknown to many, the fort offers great trekking experiences one can ask for. Packed with many surprises the Dhodap Fort Trek has a variety that stands out to make it one of the best treks to do in Maharashtra. It is a joy and a trekker’s paradise. Home for the in mates in the early age, this was once a prison. The unique features on the trek and the arched doorway take you back in time. With the views from a height of 4,750 feet, the trek is a magical one to attempt when timed in the right season.
