The forts of Padargarh and Tungi were built to keep an eye on the ancient Ganesh (Ganapati) ghats leading to Bhimashankar via Karjat - Khandas. Both these forts were built for surveillance, so there are not many ruins on these forts. Since the way to Padargarh is broken at places, the fort can be climbed only by using the materials of mountaineering. The two katal sulekas on The Padargarh are known as the "Palace of Artistini".
